Entranced, enigmatic and energetic

I have a soft spot for Tumbarumba. This little-known region has a big heart, and at the center of its heart is Chardonnay. The Tumbarumba Chardonnay is grown by the Johansen’s at their Glenburnie and Mountain View vineyards, 700masl planted on basalt and granite, respectively. The grapes are handpicked and direct pressed to old barrels where they mature for 18 months before being bottled unfined, unfiltered and unsulfured.

The 2021 Tumbarumba Chardonnay is elegant and complex. Often deceiving, it moves between upfront purity and finesse, a cuddly mid-palate and a savoury, mineral and textural finish. Pear, lime tart, green apple and stone. It’s long and evolving with time in the glass and pairs well with antipasto, seafood, poultry and pork.
